Over on the right hand side of this blog you will see some ads that look a little like Adsense – but there not, it’s a new network called GadetSpots. Unlike Adsense you don’t get paid for people clicking on the GadgetSpot ads themselves. At the bottom of the ad block you can see a link saying GadgetSpots place Your Ad Here, that is an affiliate link. For anyone who signs up to become a paid subscriber of GadgetSpots through that link I recieve $6 a month on the first tier and $3 a month on the second.

The other great benefit is that you can add your own ads to the GadgetSpot network. This is where you have to decide if you want to become a free member or subscribed member. 75% of the ads displayed across the network are from the subscribed members and the free members share the other 25%. At the time of writing 20% of sign ups are subscribed members and the other 80% are free members, so this means that 80% of the ads are shown across only 25% of the network while the subscribed members 20% of ads are getting shown across 75% of the network. So you can see the advantages of being a subscribed member.

Unlike Adsense your ads can contain affiliate links (but not for GadetSpots itself), which I think will attract a lot of people in itself. The actual Gadgets (the name for the ad blocks) can be placed on any sites you like except adult ones and the gadgets can be tailored in size and colour to suite your site.

I’m going to be adding gadgets to more of my sites along with ads to the network and I’ll be monitoring progress of both sign ups through the affliate link and click throughs on my ads in the GadgetSpot network.

For more information on GadetSpots click here.
